The problem we took on
Programs exist for children and then stop. Project Focus serves the people who aged out of them, and the city has very little built for that.
What we did about it
Before gates opened at Breakaway — 30,000-plus fans, stadium-scale production — the festival brought Project Focus students behind the scenes: stages, sound rigs, the machinery of a show. For students whose passion is music, standing where the artists stand isn’t a tour. It’s proof of access. Culture gets changed at the venues where culture already lives. This is what it looks like when a major festival decides everyone belongs at the show.
